There is nothing better than a product that can make cooking and grocery shopping easier while saving you money. Except, of course, a product that actually does those things instead of just claiming to. Lily on The Fly is an innovative solution for anyone looking to simplify grocery shopping, save money on groceries and find an easier way to plan meals. To be honest, Lily is such a no-brainer system that I'm amazed it wasn't thought of before. Lucky for us, though, inventor Karen Patterson got to the idea first and made it an incredible product!

I have to testify that I've been using the LOTF system for almost a year and I never tire of it. It's so fun that my oldest kids like to pick out the recipes and make their own meal plan.

So, how can it get any better than this: The Lily on the Fly system has meal cards that contain a recipe and picture on one side and a color-coded shopping list on the back. Karen created cards for hearty family meals (yes, the recipes actually make enough for a real family-not just one or two people!), desserts and snacks. A durable 7-slot magnetic card holder allows you to slide a card into each slot and then simply pop it on your refrigerator for easy use. Right in front of your eyes is a perfectly laid out meal plan! In addition, the card holder folds up easily so you can stash it in your purse as you head off to the grocery store.

Even better, Lily saves you money when you go shopping because your shopping list is right in front of you as you go through the store. If you're like me, you've probably spent way too much money purchasing ingredients for recipes you have in your head, but didn't write down. Chances are you never end up using those ingredients and they go to waste. I simply fold up my Lily and bring her along, unfold in the store, and shop. Because ingredients are color-coded for each recipe, I know exactly what I need from each department, like meat, produce, dairy, ect.

The first time I used my LOTF, I came home and emailed Karen that I had saved about $50 from not buying things for recipes I might make. Instead, I stuck to the Lily shopping list and wha-lah, I was done with a little extra change in my pocket.

When you're done with your first set of meal cards, have fun with your family picking out new cards for a new meal plan. What's in our Lily right now? Let's see: Baked Ravioli, Sweet Peas and mushrooms, Rita's Very Berry Cobbler ( my kids fav!), Oven Fried Chicken, Cheesy Potato Soup, Slow Cooked Chicken Burritos and Black Forest Cheesecake.

Lisa's pick benefits of Lily On The Fly are:

  • Saves money on grocery shopping

  • Makes meal preparation and planning a snap

  • Hearty, 'soul-food' recipes with something for everyone in the family

  • Meals are all fast and easy to prepare. If you're not eating out as much as you used to, these recipes are a delicious, quick alternative

  • Portability

  • My kids actually help out in the kitchen now because they love to plan their Lily meals

Busy parents, people on a tight budget, singles, empty-nesters, even teens learning to cook will LOVE Lily on the Fly. There are many different card sets to choose from and a really awesome starter pack to get you going. Visit http://www.lilyonthefly.com. Did I mention Lily is not only an iParenting Media award winner, but has also been featured on Quick & Simple.com and Real Simple Magazine?
